Elmira man crashes truck while evading police


TAMPERING WITH EVIDENCE. YESTERDAY NIGHT AT ABOUT 7:05 P-M, THE WEST ELMIRA POLICE RESPONDED TO A PHYSICAL DOMESTIC INCIDENT ON UNDERWOOD AVENUE IN THE TOWN OF ELMIRA. WHILE EN ROUTE, UNITS WERE ADVISED THE SUSPECT WAS LEAVING THE SCENE IN A RED PICKUP TRUCK AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED. THE SUSPECT CRASHED HIS VEHICLE IN THE 1100 BLOCK OF W. CLINTON STREET AND THEN FLED FROM THE AREA ON FOOT. POLICE HAVE IDENTIFIED THE SUSPECT AS 26 YEAR OLD, SHAQUILLE D. GORE, OF ELMIRA. GORE HAS BEEN TAKEN INTO CUSTODY AND CHARGED WITH PAROLE VIOLATION, 2 COUNTS OF HARASSMENT, 4 COUNTS OF ENDANGERING THE WELFARE OF A CHILD, CRIMINAL MISCHIEF, RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT, 1 COUNT OF LEAVING THE SCENE OF A PROPERTY DAMAGED MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT, AND A COUNT OF SPEED NOT REASONABLE AND PRUDENT. OFFICIALS SAY LUCKILY THERE ARE NO INJURIES AS A RESULT OF THE CRASH
